I stood looking out of my kitchen window. It is a rather large window and my view is extremely pleasant and interesting. My house is adjacent to a small city park. Large deciduous trees surround two sides of the park and to my left are tall evergreen trees, planted in a row.
I was looking at the evergreen trees when the story idea which unfolds in this book came to me. I actually think the inspiration came as an answer to a question. I wondered why creative writing on the spiritual world, as revealed in the Bible, was rarely undertaken. The idea came to me that perhaps I should give it a try.
Zoose, a special angelic being, came into my mind. I refer to Zoose as a schem to differentiate him from other angels. He would be sent to earth by God to accomplish a specific mission. His arrival on earth would be just outside my window. He would fall through the branches of an evergreen tree and land on the ground beneath it.
I wrote two or maybe three chapters and set the project aside as I was caught up in living life. After a few months, I printed the chapters and read what I had written. I liked the story and strongly felt that I was to continue, so I diligently pushed forward.
Zoose Empowered is a story about spiritual warfare, based on Biblical principles outlined in the book of Ephesians, chapter 6. Zoose battles demons bent on destroying a young boy, John Paul.
Character development is probably what I enjoy the most about writing. Zoose, John Paul, and others, they all became real to me as I got into their minds and knew their thoughts. It was truly an amazing process.
I have been a Christian believer for thirty years. I went from being a staunch atheist while attending university to become an enthusiastic believer, thanks to a workplace Bible study. My faith has been strengthened by reading and studying God’s word, the Bible.
I have lived and continue to live a most amazing life. Each day is filled with beauty and purpose as I do my best to carry out God’s will. My prayer for each reader is that your spiritual heart will be touched with love that flows from the throne of God.
Many blessings,
Joyce Hum
